Retrogression is an earth-shaking 8-11-piece band devoted to funk, soul & disco. With an electric stage presence and feel-good vibe, Retrogression shook up Royal ground when they played at Windsor Castle for Prince William's well-documented 21st birthday, and supported Lionel Richie to a celebrity-crowd celebrating 150 years of Louis Vuitton.
Now celebrating its seventh year, Retrogression was created with the vision of a covers band which would embody the spirit of the old-school groovers with a modern twist, and every one of the talented musicians who has played with Retrogression, through their personal style and varied gigging experience, has added to this vision, truly bringing back funk, soul & disco like never before!
Retrogression Ltd is now delighted to announce the launch of Retrogroove, a 6-7 piece band which caters for smaller budgets and occasions.
Up to four strong female vocalists and up to three horns front Retrogression with dynamic style, creating a great impact on 'the front line'. Retrogression and Retrogroove's repertoire is hand picked to feature the best 70s and 80s funk, soul and disco classics that keep everyone on the dancefloor, whilst creating a distinctive sound. On stage, the bands’ authenticity creates fantastic high energy and clients often comment that it was great to see the band enjoying playing the songs. Retrogression and Retrogroove have a reputation for excellence which is rooted not just in the attributes of its ever-evolving family of select musicians and its repertoire, but also in the strong approach to teamwork and direction taken by the driving force behind the band which has been consistent since day one.
Both bands are equally at home playing clubs, parties, weddings, private functions and corporate/ball events. Retrogression has featured in a joint line-up alongside The Scissor Sisters to a 900-capacity audience, provided the entertainment for the Oxford & Cambridge Varsity Balls at Café de Paris (London), and has wowed revellers at a 1,500-capacity corporate extravaganza for International financiers Deloitte & Touche. Retrogression has also held its own successful club night 'God Made Me Funky' at two venues in London, and has played regularly at prestigious Central London venues such as Mezzo's and Dover Street Wine Bar.
